We find several noble individuals who bore the name of Vadenay through the Middle Ages. These individuals are not necessarily related to the founder of the Vadnais family in the New World, but it's nice to include them in the History of the surname.
- 1259, february 6 : Huet, known as de Wadenois (Vadenay), equerry, son of defunct Pierre de WADENOIS, sell to the abbey of Toussaints, a piece of land from the region of Châlons, ad vadum of Maisnillo (Mesnil-sur-Oger), for 55 pounds 10 sol of the time.

- Thomas de Voudenay (Vadenay) +/1382, knight, sir of Voudenay (Côte d'Or), Burgundian according to abbot Millard, he takes the control of he seigniory of Mareuil, Conjy, Toulon, Baye, Villevenard, Talus, Bannay, Joches, Oger, Fèrebrianges. Husband of Jeanne de Conflans, (+1372/) daughter of Eustache de Conflans III lord of Mareuil, viscount of Hostel and Allemande Flotte known as de Revel daughter of Guillaume Flotte lord of Revel, chancellor of France, & of Elips de Mello his first wife.
- Eustache de Voudenay (Vadenay), knight, sir of Voudenay, Mareuil in Brie, & Baye near Châlons-sur-Marne, of Congy, Toulon, Le Baizil, etc. Chamberlain of the King, died in the Barbary Coast as a pilgrim (1392 or 1395), marry Marie de Béthune, +1400 (make her will 31.07.1400) lady of Escornay, daughter of Jean, sir of Locres and of Jeanne de Coucy, without descendants.

- Marguerite de Voudenay (Vadenay) daughter of Thomas and Jeanne de Conflans, widow of Pons de Châteauneuf, marry Jean de Néelle, known as Herpin, lord of St-Crespin who was previously in the Church, their children Jean; Raoul killed Agincourt 1415 his daughter Marguerite married in 1453 to Jean de Crèvecoeur; Agnès, marriage unknown.

- Dyou de Voudenay husband of Eléonore de Sully, lady of la Motte first wedding with Hugues de Castel de Perron, brother of Guillaume, husband of his sister. Eléonore was the daughter of Eudes de Sully, lord of la Motte-Sully, la Cordille and la Grange who died in 1329.
- Huguette de Voudenay, wife of Jean de la Châtre, equerry, lord of Nançay & Besigny, butler & chamberlain of the Duke of Berry in 1397, bailiff of Gien in 1409, captain of the castel of Mehun in 1410, was allowed to fortify his castel of Nançay in 1413.
